Scholars Claim Jesus Used His Sweetest Cheeba To Perform “Miracles”

White Jesus approves this message
This image dates back to AD530 and is from a church in Rome.

So I was reviewing the pages of other MadMen to see what was going on in to the world, and I came across an article one of our MadMen named Gary posted in regards to Jesus using weed to perform miracles.  You know I couldn’t pass THAT up, so of course the research began.

Chris Bennett, the author of the theory that weed was very prevalent during Bible times, caused quite a stir in 2003 when he published the article “Was Jesus A Stoner” in High Times Magazine.  Reading the article, his argument makes sense.   It is a known fact that a common oil used in those times was kaneh-bosm (a cannabis extract).  The oil was used in all types of ceremonies and healing mixtures and Jesus’ follower’s were “literally drenched in this potent mixture” and therefore explaining away certain miracles, like skin diseases and eye related illness. Bennett states: “there is evidence that many of the so-called miracles performed by Jesus and his followers were accounts of actual medical applications of this topical oil. Embellished over time, these stories became the miraculous healing tales of the New Testament—accounts that were written decades after Jesus’ terrestrial life had come to an end.”  WOW.

Another scholar, Sula Benet expounded upon this original theory and agreed with scholars that pot use was prevalent throughout Judaism, relating it as far back to Moses.  That burning bush???  Yea it was a real burning bush (and would obviously explain why homeboy heard voices coming out of it). Her research found an irrefutable reference to the sticky-icky in Exodus chapter 30 verse 23.  The verse is Yahweh(God) explaining to Moses how to make the sacred oil…500 shekels of myrrh, 250 shekels of cinnamon and 250 shekels of the sweetest cheeba.  The prophet Jeremiah banned the use of cannabis infused oils, blaming it for the fall of Israel. Guess everyone was too busy snacking on manna to fight for independence.

Reading this..I ran straight to the bible to find the reference, but all current versions of the Bible have removed the word kaneh-bosm and replaced it with “sweet calamus” or “fragrant cane”.  Bennet says “the word for cannabis is kaneh-bosm, also rendered in traditional Hebrew as kaneh or kannabus. The root kan in this construction means “reed” or “hemp”, while bosm means “aromatic”. This word appears five times in the Old Testament; in the books of Exodus, the Song of Songs, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.”

It is argued among Black historians that the original “Jew” was actually Black – Rastafari. But you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone admit that out loud. I’m Just Sayin…that picture of a Black Jesus with dreadlocks that they sell on 125th street in Harlem might be the most accurate representation of Jesus ever.
